Daniel's First High School Football Game - Aug 29, 2003
This was opening game of 2003 season, heated rivalry between Brandon and Pearl--packed stadium of 8000 crazy football fans!
Our entourage consisted of Steph and Keith, cheerleader Kasey, Diane and Roger, and Scottie and Bobby. We all got
to stadium on time to take a few photos. Daniel's high school football baptism came early in first quarter --- Brandon had
the ball on their own 5 yard line with a 4-th down punt coming up. Daniel's first punt was from back of his own end zone
and he got off a good one out to about their own 40 yard line to give Brandon some breathing room.
Brandon took an early lead in first quarter of 7-0 with about 7 minutes remaining in quarter. Game was then called due to
bad weather and we had to get out of stadium in a hurry. It was lightening and really storming badly to say the least. Game
continued after about an hour delay. It continued raining for entire game and got down to last 2:55 minutes of game with
Brandon holding a 7-6 lead. On a running play, Brandon player fumbled and ball was recovered by Pearl on Brandon 27 yard
line. On very next play, Pearl scored on a 27 yard run by their quarterback and took a 12-7 lead. Brandon could not score
on the ensuing kickoff and the game ended with Brandon taking their first lost of season by a 12-7 score.
Daniel punted 6 times during course of game, averaging 32 yards/punt. During pre-game practice kicks, he got off several
from his own endzone out to about the 50 yard line. All-in-all, it was a night to remember!
